Blackburn Rover’s Visit – Tuesday 23rd January 2018
On Tuesday afternoon, Blackburn Rovers duo Lewis Travis and Ryan Nyambe visited Year 6 as part of the Blackburn Rovers Community Trust’s Anti-Racism and Citizenship programme. The children have been learning about the importance of removing discrimination from our society, and were tasked with creating a poster on the theme of anti-racism and prejudice.
Right back Ryan admitted he was impressed with the skills on show. “The kids showed great spirit and team work and I was surprised by the quality of the posters.” Ilyas Patel, community inclusion manager at Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, was delighted that the group produced such fantastic work stating “the pupils were a credit to the school – it was a pleasure to be part of the event.”
The players were then given the tricky challenge of choosing a winning design from the afternoon’s efforts. The group that ended up taking the top spot had included a collection of legendary Rovers players’ photos on their poster.
