Summer of Safety Week

We are looking forward to a  safe summer in year 3 and we have learnt how to stay safe in lots of different environments including railways, in and around water, near roads and on-line.  Tomorrow we will have the opportunity to learn all about fire safety.

Take a look at our water safety skills:)

An afternoon in the explorer zone.

After a hard weeks work Year 3 took the opportunity to enjoy the sun in the schools Explorer Zone.

Mr Sutcliffe set up the area and created 5 different fun activities, making full use of the schools amazing grounds.

We had den making, digging, a reading area, Jurassic park and small world play.

Thank you Mr Sutcliffe.

Y 3 and 4 visit to Masjid Salaam Mosque, Watling Street Road

The children had a very educational and interesting morning last Thursday visiting the Masjid Salaam Mosque in Preston.  The Imam taught us about the building and discussed  Islamic faith and traditions.

There is an open day at the Mosque on Sunday 13th May 2018, if you would like to visit please contact the mosque directly for details.   [email protected]

Surprise Visitor – Pepsi.

Year 3 had a surprise visitor from Pepsi the Shetland Pony today.

Pepsi is 33 years old, she  loves children and lives with Mrs Clarkson and her family. Pepsi visited school as part of  the ‘pet week’ theme in Year2.

World Book Day 2018!

Take a look at the fantastic characters that came to school on World Book Day today. We had some very creative and original fancy dress. The children have a day full of book themed activities to look forward to including writing to their favorite authors and inviting them to visit school (fingers crossed for a visit).

Welcome Back!

This term in Year 3 we welcome a new class member Ashley! All children have extended an extra special warm Westwood welcome.

Our topic work in Year 3 is going to be all about the  ‘Vicious Vikings!’ this term.

Lots of children did the own research in the holidays and have enjoyed sharing their facts presented in lots of different mediums including models of viking long boats by Dylan, Olivia and JD, a shield by Alfie,  bead craft created by Lucas, drawings and research by Kaidon and Adam, a computer presentation by Sienna,  a detailed report by Dylan  and a very comprehensive booklet by William.

Well done to all those children who have brought Viking information to share. We we update the blog as more comes in 🙂
